  1. Saying a romance doesn’t require a happy ending is like saying a car chase doesn’t require a car or a mystery doesn’t require a crime to solve. A happy ending is literally one of the only requirements for romance genre. Which is why most of the example books you give above ARE NOT ROMANCES. Maybe look stuff up next time before you instruct others about them?
